Vinyl siding is easy to install, but it still requires great skill and deep knowledge to do it right. Poor installation will let water seep into your home and leave it vulnerable to all sorts of pests. DryTech Roofing LLC is the expert in installing vinyl siding for Maryland homes.

Here are some essential tips to ensure a flawless siding installation project.

Wide Starting Strip

Several options of starter strip are available for starting vinyl siding. Spend the extra money and invest in three-and-a-half-inch starter strips rather than thinner and cheaper ones. Check that at least an inch of the starter strip covers the top of the home’s foundation. This will ensure protection against rain, snow and anything else nature throws at it.

Level It Out

Siding will get installed and function better if it’s all leveled. A level chalk line all around the base of your home will help get your installation straight. Then leveling again every five courses will keep things going well. Expect your contractor to have these things in mind.

Space at Both Ends

Vinyl siding has to be able to move a bit after installation. For that reason, it’s important to have a total of a fourth of an inch of extra space between both ends of your siding runs. This allows expansion during the summer months and prevents buckling of your siding.

Vinyl Blade for a Clean Cut

DryTech Roofing LLC never uses a standard fine-toothed saw blade to cut vinyl sections. A specialty vinyl blade with backward teeth makes a smoother cut. This prevents chipping and other issues made by standard cutting.

Choose the Proper Nails

Galvanized roofing nails hold the siding in place and even against most weather conditions. They should be more than two inches in length if nailing past rigid foam rather than straight to the sheathing. Nails that are not galvanized will corrode much faster, which would then leave you with dangling siding.
